Nail Gaiman's "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" is about a middle-aged man who returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral, and is drawn towards a farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, met Lettie Hempstock. Behind the old rundown farmhouse he sits by a pond, that Lettie once claimed was an ocean, where his dark and daunting past comes back to him.
