Friday, June 15th, 2012 daredevil Nik Walenda, 33 became the first tightrope walker to walk a high-wire across Niagara Falls - completing his childhood dream. The 1,800 foot crossing separating the U.S. and Canada took Walenda 30min. Wallenda crossed some 200 feet in the air on a two-inch-wide wire through the mist and fog above the roaring torrent of Horseshoe Falls - the largest of the three falls that make up Niagara Falls. An estimated 112,000 people crowded the shores of both countries and millions more watched a live television broadcast. Other daredevils have wire-walked over the Niagara River but farther downstream and not since 1896.
