The Beatles' contribution to pop music was tremendous as they revolutionized the standards of rock and roll. The Beatles were part of the "British Invasion" which was a return to America of American music that had begun to disappear, namely the rock and roll of the 50s. The Beatles' music and song-writing was well advanced compared to other artists of the 60s and this set the artistic bar for writing music very high for current and upcoming artists.
