The Men's Macai Jacket by Arc'teryx is a luxurious, cold weather, ski and snowboard specific jacket that I love to wear. Although the price may be off-putting, it's worth the expensive price. The Macai Jacket is fully waterproof and windproof while remaining breathable thanks to the GORE-TEX fabric with both down and synthetic insulations in a regular fit. It is both highly comfortable, and the placement of insulation ensures prolonged jacket life.
I really like that the materials retain warmth when wet, which includes areas like along the hem, hood and underarms; places prone to contact with moisture. There is a removable power skirt, mesh lined underarm vents and a mesh-backed front zip that prevents snow entry but allows heat to escape for those moments when working up a swear in deep snow.
I feel that my favorite feature is the removable, insulated hood that fits over standard ski and snowboard helmets, because it is designed to rotate with head movements.
