I was looking for a new exotic recipe for the summer season when I came across this recipe for Chicken Shawarma on Delish! I have tried shawarma before and greatly enjoyed it so I figured it would be neat to try and replicate the flavor to enjoy at home!
Shawarma refers to the Middle Eastern method cooking where thin slices of meat, most traditionally lamb, are stacked on a vertical spit and slowly rotate in front of a fire or other heat source. The outside meat is then slowly cooked and shaved off to serve, resulting in a very tender, juicy, and well-spiced meat! This recipe, though it greatly varies from traditional shawarma, did an excellent job at mimicking the flavor and tenderness that one would find.
The recipe for Chicken Shawarma is pretty easy to make, and yields 6 servings with a prep time of 15 minutes and a total time of 3 hours and 15 minutes. If anyone is interested in checking out the instructions, please click on the image up above.
