I recently purchased the 2020 Volkl Mantra 102 Skis from Volkl in anticipation for the winter and peak ski season. These freeride skis are optimized flotation, ultimate control, playful dynamics and versatility in any terrain.
The Mantra 102 skis have a tip and tail rocker to allow for a true power freeride. I am very impressed by the titanal frame and the carbon tips that provide more damping and stability over the full length of the ski. The core is made of a multilayer woodcore and poplar/beech with a P-Tex 2100 base.
What most intrigued me about these skis was the 3D radius that allows a sidecut geometry, which perfectly suits the rocker construction. Depending on my speed or angle, this means the effective edge becomes shorter or longer and the matching sidecut radius provides not just hold, but also exceptional maneuverability and comfortable smooth running. Thinking about how these technologies work feels so exhilarating! I cannot wait until my upcoming first ride of the season on these.

- 3 Radius sidecut
- Titanal frame for more stability and damping over the full length of the ski
- Great powder performance, long turn dynamics, and all conditions performance
- Advanced or professional skier lever recommended
- Lower hard snow performance
- Lower short turn agility
I can't wait to try out these skis. I have been looking for the perfect new pair of high-performance ski that would provide maximum turning and speed versatility in all mountain skiing. I have a feeling these are going to become my new fave pair of freeride skis.
